Traffic Cameras
Live camera views from across the Puna district, updated every five minutes to help you monitor Route 130 conditions.
The Puna traffic camera network offers a live window into the district's roadways, with feeds refreshed every five minutes so residents and visitors alike can gauge conditions along key corridors such as Route 130 before heading out. Whether you are planning the morning commute toward Hilo or checking the flow near the Pahoa roundabout, these camera views provide a practical, at-a-glance sense of whether traffic is moving freely, moderately, or heavily at any given moment. The system is designed to complement the broader county dashboard, giving you a visual layer of awareness that pairs naturally with alerts, notifications, and the wider overview of roadway conditions across the district.
Because weather and road conditions can shift quickly in this part of the island, the camera feeds serve as a reliable first check for anyone navigating the area. Drivers can compare multiple vantage points along a route, spot congestion building before it becomes a delay, and make informed decisions about timing or alternate paths. The cameras are especially useful during periods of heightened activity, whether that means holiday travel, community events, or times when disaster preparedness becomes a priority. By keeping the feeds simple and consistent, the page makes it easy to scan the district's roadways in seconds without unnecessary clutter or distraction.
The camera page fits into a larger suite of tools designed around safety and situational awareness for the Puna community. Alongside navigation aids, the traffic overview, and emergency notification systems, the live views help residents stay connected to what is happening on the roads that matter most to their daily routines. This layered approach means you are never relying on a single source of information; instead, the cameras work in concert with maps, alerts, and social updates to give a fuller picture of conditions across the county. The result is a calmer, more prepared driving experience, even when circumstances on the road are anything but ordinary.
The design of the camera page mirrors the rest of the site's understated, approachable character, with generous spacing, clear labels, and a warm palette that keeps the experience easy on the eyes. Each feed is presented simply, letting the imagery speak for itself while remaining part of a cohesive visual system across the site. Whether you are a longtime resident who knows every curve of the district or a newcomer still learning the roads, the camera views offer a straightforward way to stay oriented and informed. Taken together with the wider dashboard, they reinforce the idea that good information, presented clearly, makes every journey a little more predictable and a lot more comfortable.
